The creativity to be bold and expressive

St Andrews College offers its students opportunities to develop their creative talents and skills, through an exceptional performing and creative arts program, including:

  • tuition in music, visual arts, drama and dance
  • regular performance opportunities
  • music tutor program and College band
  • the ‘Write a book in a day’ program
  • the Rock Eisteddfod challenge
  • opportunities to be selected in ArtExpress, ONSTAGE (Drama) and Encore HSC exhibitions
  • contemporary performing arts space with lighting, sound and special effects
  • well-equipped music, drama and art studios
  • involvement in prop making, stage management, directing and sound mixing.

 

The confidence to lead the future  

St Andrews College provides a student leadership program for students, to develop their confidence and skills, including:

  • the Student Representative Council which provides both a voice to students and an opportunity for leadership
  • community leadership programs e.g. Blacktown Youth Ambassador, Sydney West Lectures - a two-evening enrichment program of ROSA and HSC preparation lectures for western Sydney gifted students
  • speakers program for students on a range of life issues
  • student awards program for all grades and special awards for Year 12 reflecting academic achievement and involvement in the life of the College
  • the Law Society's Mock Trial competition
  • the Catholic Schools Debating Association public speaking and debating competitions
  • school, diocesan, regional, state, and national representative sports
  • hosting program for students from our sister school, Koriyama Shogyo High School, Japan.

 

The conscience to live with integrity and respect

St Andrews College has an extensive pastoral care program of student welfare, management and discipline, to ensure students optimise their learning time and experiences, including:

  • a transition to high school and Year 7 orientation programs
  • a Year 7 peer support program and outdoor adventure camp
  • a HSC In Focus transition program for Year 10 students, to help them move to more independent learning appropriate to senior studies
  • the provision of school counsellors
  • the “Beyond Bullying” initiatives
  • clearly articulated rights and responsibilities
  • a recognition program focusing on student achievement and attaining personal bests.

 

The compassion to bring hope to the world

St Andrews College seeks to actively educate students about social justice issues. A three-pronged approach of awareness, advocacy and action successfully engages students in the development of their commitment to social justice, including:

  • St Vincent de Paul Society Mini-Vinnies, night patrol, winter appeal, and winter sleep out
  • East Timor group
  • Caritas Australia and Project Compassion
  • Red Shield doorknock appeal
  • Social justice seminars
  • Environmental groups (Earthcare and Stream Watch programs).
