Diving - Pacific School Games

Diving Pacific School Games

From the 21st to the 28th of November, St Andrews College students Tyra Olsson of Year 10 and Jemma Frances of Year 8 represented the College in the sport of diving at the Pacific School Games. To qualify for this event, both students had to place at the NSWCCC event, then qualify for the NSW All Schools event. The Pacific School Games was held in Adelaide and featured sports such as swimming, baseball, goal ball and table tennis. Countries including New Zealand, China and India took part in these games making it a truly international event.

It was a long week of diving at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre with Jemma competing in five events and Tyra in two events. Jemma competed in the 14 Year 1 metre Springboard, 3 metre Springboard, 13-14 Year Platform, 13-14 Year Synchronised and the team event. She completed her dives well with her bet finish in the 3 metre Springboard where she placed 11th. Tyra competed in the 16 Year 1 metre Springboard and the 3 metre Springboard with her highest ranking on the 3 metre where she came 9th.

Both girls were great ambassadors for both St Andrews College and NSW Combined Catholic Colleges. They trained hard all week, competed to the best of their ability and enjoyed the friendship experiences such as visiting Adelaide Zoo on the official excursion and dining out at the NSW team dinner.

Jemma and Tyra would like to thank the College and the students for their generous assistance with fundraising. Through BBQs, Zooper Doopers, chocolates and raffle tickets, the girls were able to cover their airfares, uniform and team levy.

St Andrews College is extremely proud of these students and looks forward to watching them progress in the future.
