Schools Industry Partnership VET Awards

On Tuesday the 30th of August the Schools Industry Partnership VET Awards were held at Penrith Christian School.

This year St Andrews College nominated two students to be recognised for their exceptional effort in their work placement and their Vocational Education and Training studies.

The two students were Aleisha Thornton for her studies in Entertainment and Desa Espiritu for her studies in Hospitality.

Aleisha is a quiet achiever with a real talent for problem solving. She also ensures she is well prepared for her work placements and is quite knowledgeable in a variety of areas. She works well with people of all ages and has a strong maturity that belies her years.

Aleisha undertook a work placement for the David Jones Fashion Launch during her studies. Aleisha’s supervisor stated that they were delighted to have Aleisha as part of the stylistic team. Her professionalism and dedication contributed to the smooth running and overall success of the National Media Launch event.

At the Awards, Aleisha was presented with a Certificate of Excellence for Entertainment.

During her work placement Desa demonstrated exceptional skills in customer service and has consistently shown a passion for the Hospitality industry. Her professionalism and initiative contributed to a positive flow of service and brought an unexpected element of dedication to the workplace for a young person of her age.

Desa’s future aspirations are to complete a Certificate in Event Management and work for a large hotel chain.

Desa received a Certificate of Excellence for Hospitality.

The St Andrews College community congratulates both Aleisha and Desa for their achievements in their VET studies. Also to be congratulated are their teachers and mentors, Ms Henrietta Stathopoulos and Ms Michelle Trefler for Entertainment and Mr Javier Araujo for Hospitality.
