On the 15th of March, 40 students from Years 9 and 10 were chosen to go to the Museum of Human Disease at UNSW to celebrate Brain Awareness Week 2017.

On Thursday the 2nd of March students and staff traveled to Blacktown Aquatic Centre for the annual College Swimming Carnival. It was another great day in the swimming pool with ten records broken.

The 14th of February is not everyone's cup of tea, however each year the Vinnie's Group helps bring it to light a little more by encouraging the College to do more for those in need.

Drama and VET Entertainment

In the weeks leading up the 9th of January a number of SAC students including Year 11 Drama student Nicolas Menohous and Year 12 Drama student Guet MacAcuek as well as a number of students from two other local Catholic Colleges, were all part of the CAPTIVATE Drama Program and gave up their holiday time to rehearse and then participate in this world wide competition.

2016 HSC Students Achieve Great Results

Ten St Andrews College students achieved an ATAR of over 90. Our ATAR Dux Khang Nguyen achieved an ATAR of 99.40, ATAR 2nd Place Marc Isakov achieved an ATAR 98.35, ATAR 3rd Place Katrina Quizon achieved an ATAR of 97.15. Khang also achieved sixth place in the State for Music.

Special Religious Education Mass

On Friday the 21st of October, two of my peers and I were invited to attend the annual mass of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) of the Archdiocese of Sydney at Glenmore Park Parish. Here we were given the privilege to experience a mass led by the Most Reverend Vincent Long Van Nguyen and Priests of the Diocese.

On the 20th of June, Year 7 students had an incursion in the hall with the people from verbal combat. Verbal combat is one of the many theatre productions from Brainstorm Productions and targets bullying in schools, cyber-bullying and prejudice.

On Tuesday the 14th of June all Year 8 students attended a Taiko (Japanese drumming) incursion by the percussion duet, YuNiOn, as part of their study of Japanese.

Good Friday Walk

On the night of Good Friday, 25th of March, 19 students from Year 11 and 12 participated in the annual Parramatta Good Friday Walk, walking 21km overnight. This walk was a reminder of the passion of Jesus and what He did for us.

“Stations of the Cross” at St Andrews College is a Senior Drama class tradition, and this year we continued with our cross curricular work with the Religion Department , VET Entertainment and of course Year 11 Drama.

2015 CSDA Debating Competition

Over the past three terms, St Andrews College has been competing in the 2015 CSDA Debating Competition. It has been a phenomenal season with our debaters going above and beyond by giving up their Friday nights to travel to different schools across Sydney to compete in each round of the competition.

On Friday the 14th of August, a group of talented students represented the College at the PDSSSC Dance competition at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre. Another amazing Creative Arts Night at St Andrews College. This year the Year 11 Hospitality students had the privilege of running their first coffee cart.

Blacktown City Parade

On the 30th of May, Year 7, Student Leaders and staff marched in the Blacktown Parade. It was a real demonstration of our presence in the Blacktown community as a school.

Walkathon 2015

Walkathon “What a great event!”; Year 11 Hospitality students took on their first function and catered for St Andrews College staff and students, a total of 1200 people.

Year 11 Photography Excursions

During terms one and two, Year 11 Photography has been on two excursions into Sydney’s CBD.

Write a Book in a Day

Thirty students met on Wednesday 20th of May to write three books. Each team was given a different set of parameters that they had to follow and in 12 hours they had to create, write, illustrate, print and bind “ready to be posted” books.

Year 11 Jazz Excursion

On Thursday, the 21st of May the Year 11 Music class had the opportunity to attend an excursion and witness ‘The Vampires” live at the Seymour Centre.

Year 7 Camp

In week 10 of Term 1 Year 7 attended camp at the Collaroy Centre. It was an opportunity for the students to make new friends and to challenge themselves.

Language and Culture Workshop Rakugo with Katsura Sunshine

On Friday the 27th of March, students in Year 11 and 12 who study Japanese Continuers had the privilege to attend a Language and Culture workshop at the Japan Foundation, Sydney in Central Park.

National Schools Constitutional Convention 2015

On the 24-26th of March, I was honoured with the opportunity to be one of the 29 youth from NSW to go to the National Schools Constitutional Convention for 2015. Overall, 120 students from government, independent and Catholic schools around Australia were selected to attend this convention, which was held at the Old Parliament House in Canberra.

Senior Boys Football

On Monday the 11th of May the St Andrews College Senior Boys Football Team were pumped and ready. United by their drive and passion for the game. The boys sought out the challenge and were ready to play off against local schools in an all day gala.

Peer Support

In Term 1 our Year 10 Peer Support Leaders and their Assistants ran a Peer Support Program with our new Year 7 students. The module they ran this year was “Behaving with Integrity”.

College Cross Country Carnival

On Thursday 23rd of April, we held our Cross Country Carnival. Throughout the afternoon students cheered on the participants and each House was given the opportunity to earn some beloved House points.

Streamwatch

Year 12 Streamwatch students each fortnight monitor the environment of Breakfast Creek and its water quality. Students record any pollution and wildlife present and forward the results to Sydney Water.
